If you’ve been volunteering with us for a while, you know that our September event is one of our biggest and best each year. So, gather your friends, family, neighbors – anyone really – and come join us in Druid Hill Park and in the Druid Heights Neighborhood for a morning of beautification efforts.
We will have 150 of you in the park, and you’ll meet at Columbus Pavilion at Swann Drive and East Drive in Druid Hill Park (just put Druid Hill Park into your GPS and you’ll see signs directing you to our pavilion). Volunteers working in the park will be building new picnic tables for the pavilions throughout the park (this one is for all you Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor fans), de-cluttering and organizing the beautiful Rawlings Conservatory Greenhouse, preparing crafts for the Conservatory’s Winter Solstice celebration (for you Martha Stewart wanna-be’s), painting pavilions throughout the park, and picking up trash.
Another 50 of you will be working with Baltimore City Councilmen Leon Pinkett (District 7) and Eric Costello (District 11) on greening and beautification tasks in the Druid Heights Neighborhood Community, which sits on the border of Districts 7 and 11. We will meet at the Druid Heights Community Development Corporation at 2140 McCulloh St). You’ll help with beautification in an area very much in need.
All volunteer activities are close to each other. For all volunteers, we suggest closed-toe shoes. And we are excited to share that we will have free yoga at the Columbus Pavilion for everyone no matter their volunteer site starting at 9AM.
Andddd now for the afterparty deets. These are good. Like, really, really good. No matter which site you choose to volunteer, we will all be celebrating the fruits of our labor at the Columbus Pavilion with FREE WINE, FREE BEER provided by New Belgium, food trucks, live music, and of course, yard games, including our annual cornhole tournament. A little friendly competition never hurt anybody.
