Our November event involved freshening up a building that has served the Druid Hill community since 1885. As one of the oldest YMCAs in the nation, the Druid Hill Family Center Y has stood the test of time as a hub for community activities.
Eric Sommerville and his team at the Y directed us to paint the entryway, upstairs hallways, and basement gym. We brought over 100 volunteers who contributed in excess of 300 service hours. Using tools from the Baltimore Community ToolBank, we gave the Y a fresh coat and a new look. Additionally, since Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, we had to get involved! Our friends at Living Classrooms Foundation are giving away Thanksgiving dinners to needy families. They covered the turkeys and we donated the sides.

After the event, we didn’t let our paint clothes stop us and headed to Social Pub & Pie in Federal Hill for beers and pizzas to celebrate a job well done. It was a good day for #voluntbeering.
