April- Blue Water Baltimore

The month of April means two things to Volunteering Untapped…National Volunteer Month and working with Blue Water Baltimore! Blue Water Baltimore’s mission is to restore the quality of Baltimore’s rivers, streams and Harbor to foster a healthy environment, a strong economy and thriving communities. We’ve helped them fulfill their mission in the past by removing over 10,000 pounds of trash from Patapsco River and its shorelines.

This time around it was all about the trees. We planted nearly 300 of them. After meeting up in  West Baltimore and learning more about the organization, we divided into groups to get to work. If our volunteers had not planted a tree before, they were in for a lesson on irrigation, soil, and how to roll a tree. We were happy to be outside beautifying Baltimore and contributing to our city’s clean air.

Our dedicated volunteers celebrated their new trees, with beers at Das Bier Haus in Federal Hill. We enjoyed happy hour specials with a few steins and pretzels.
