December’s Event Details!

For 2021’s final #SecondSaturday we will be dividing and conquering and will be volunteering at two locations — Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland AND Peabody Heights Brewery — to help out multiple Baltimore organizations and spread the VU love to benefit as many of our neighbors as possible.

Meals on Wheels:

Volunteers here will be helping the Meals on Wheels team prepare and pack meals for their clients in the area. This time of year they always need extra hands to help prepare meals to be delivered in advance of holiday closures and prep holiday treats to make the season extra special for their clients.

• When: Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10 AM-1 PM
• Where: 515 S. Haven St., Baltimore, MD 21224
• What: Working in an active and engaging assembly-line type environment, either preparing meals in the kitchen or packing the meals to be delivered to clients.
• Attire: Comfortable shoes are suggested and holiday sweaters are welcome. Please remember to wear a face mask.

ALL MEALS ON WHEELS VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO FILL OUT THEIR VOLUNTEER APPLICATION BELOW BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

You are required to pass a health screening 24 hours prior to volunteering. This opportunity requires volunteers to stand for 3 hours, participate in activities that require lifting, reaching, and bending continuously, and work on a fast-paced box packing line.

Food Drive and Holiday Crafting at Peabody Heights Brewery:

Volunteers will gather at Peabody Heights Brewery for a food drive and holiday crafting extravaganza!

Volunteers are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to benefit Beans & Bread. We’ll also be doing some holiday crafting to make cards, decor, and decorate mugs for various organizations throughout the city, including Believe Big, Meals on Wheels, Kennedy Krieger Institute, and Beans & Bread.

For the food drive, suggested donation items include:

• Peanut butter
• Jelly
• Canned soup
• Canned fruit
• Canned vegetables
• Canned stew
• Canned fish
• Canned beans
• Pasta
• Rice
• Sugar
• Flour
• Pancake, biscuit, muffin, cake mixes
• Salt & pepper

• When: Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10 AM-1 PM
• Where: 401 E 30th St, Baltimore, MD 21218
• What: Food drive and holiday crafting.
• Attire: Your favorite casual holiday wear and a face mask.
