VU Virtual Trivia
May 13, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Local trivia host, Stephen Walsh from such bars as Wicked Sisters, Peabody Heights & Mick O’Shea’s, has taken his games online. Teams from across the country have been playing Walsh Trivia Online (through Zoom) and this Monday, he’s hosting the 7:30pm time slot for Volunteering Untapped teams.
So put put together a team of your smartest friends and let’s see which VU’er takes the title of trivia master on Wednesday!
Below is on how the game works, how you can sign up, and the costs.
REGISTERING
Register through this Eventbrite to sign up and include your Team Captain or Team Name. There is a maximum of 40 teams and each team can have up to 10 people.
PAYMENT
It’s $3 to register your Team Captain, and $2 for each additional player. Payment is due prior to the game and can be made via Venmo or PayPal (details below). If possible, Stephen would like to have the team captain collect the money from their team members and send him one payment for the game.
Pay through:
VENMO – @WalshTrivia (last 4 digits = 8911)
PAYPAL – stephenwalshsw@gmail.com
Please put your team name, captains, name or Volunteering Untapped in the payment notes, if possible.
RECRUITING YOUR TEAM
The whole point of the online games is to bring people together during this time of social distancing. You can play on your own or with the people living in your house, or you can gather the whole gang together online or on the phone. Questions are asked in sets of 3, and then teams are given 3 minutes to discuss possible answers. Use whatever platform is easiest for your team to communicate; large teams playing across multiple cities or states have recommended using an app called Discord, but there has also been success with conference calls, FaceTime, Skype, Google hangout, and other free services. Use whatever works best for your team as long as just one person is submitting the answers for the team.
LOGGING IN TO PLAY
Roughly 10-15 minutes before your scheduled game you will get an e-mail from Stephen with 2 links:
* LINK 1 will be a link to the Zoom meeting where you can watch and hear the game. You will share this link with your teammates
* LINK 2 will be a link to the Google Form where you (the team captain) will submit your answers for each question. You don’t need to share this.
Once you are registered then keep an eye out for the e-mail about 10-15 minutes before your scheduled start time (make sure it doesn’t go to spam). You will be able to login at that point.
