When the weather outside is frightful, we bundle up and get to work in two of our favorite city warehouses!! For our January event, we will be partnering with Second Chance and the Baltimore Toolbank for two great events!

  • Second Chance (1700 Ridgely St) – Help an organization that gives people and building materials a second chance. Instead of destroying, they deconstruct homes and buildings to sell the materials and use the money to hire people who deserve a second chance at life, most of whom were incarcerated at one point. Before the volunteering begins, you will be inspired by the story of an employee. Then we get to work in their 200,000 square foot warehouse pulling nails from wood, measuring windows, organizing inventory, processing recent donations, and more so everything can be sold and reused and they can continue hiring people worthy of a second chance.
  • Baltimore Community ToolBank (1224 Wicomico St) – One of our favorite organizations and best partners, the ToolBank rents tools to Baltimore’s nonprofit community, giving organizations like VU access to thousands of tools without having to buy or store them. So much of our impact around Baltimore happens with ToolBank tools in our hands and now we have a chance to give back to them and help increase capacity for all of the nonprofits they serve. We will be in their warehouse building wheelbarrows and improving their equipment.

Both groups will come together for food and drinks at Brewer’s Cask in Federal Hill. There you’ll find food and drink specials, and heat!

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2019. Let’s start the new year off right!
