Calverton Elementary & Middle School
Our August event is going to be one of the best we have ever done and we are lucky to be able to pull such a great event and so many partners together. We will be working with Playworks to paint an acre of blacktop at Calverton Elementary and Middle School in West Baltimore’s Bridgeview/Greenlawn neighborhood. This play area is also used by community members and children after the school day, so we are providing a space that will be used by much more than just the children at the school.
We will hold a competition with prize money for the person that can design the best play space for the school. On the day of the event, we will paint the winner’s design on the blacktop. We will also be installing three basketball hoops that will replace the three backboards with no rim that are currently there.
For the after party, we will walk just two blocks south to the Helen Mackall Park, one of Baltimore’s many public parks, where we will have food trucks, free beer and wine, live music and games. We are proudly partnering with Power Plant Live for this event.
