June-City Ranch and Volo City Kids Foundation

We were very excited for June’s events as they brought us two new partners, City Ranch and the Volo City Kids Foundation. And our volunteers were even more excited to be spending their time with kids on a second Saturday!

Half of our volunteers headed to City Ranch in Woodlawn, MD. City Ranch was founded in 2007 to give urban children lifelong memories on the backs of horses and prove accessible and affordable horseback riding to the greater Baltimore community. They reverse the model, and rather than taking the children to the country, they bring the horses to the children, thus creating safe environments within their local communities. Our volunteers, cleaned, painted, and repaired the ranch with a focus on a classroom that will be used for students visiting City Ranch. We were thankful that City Ranch allowed us to say hello to the horses after our work and even offered our volunteers two for one riding lessons!

Our second event that day in June was with the Volo City Kids Foundation. Volo City Kids works to remove the barriers to participation in organized activities. They provide free, organized play to children within the community. We brushed up on our volleyball, soccer, and football skills to coach the kids during a field day. We also manned registration tables to help parents register for the free summer leagues that the Volo City Kids Foundation offers.

For June’s after party we joined forces with Volo City for their Brand Launch Party. Our volunteers enjoyed free beer, food trucks, live music, and a little competition.

June’s events involved new partners, so take the time to check them out:
