August- Second Chance

Sometimes the weather gets the best of our outdoor events, but that doesn’t stop us from volunteering! For the month of August, we had planned to beautify a blacktop at Calverton Elementary and Middle School in West Baltimore, but paint and rain don’t mix very well. Our partners at Playworks will ensure that blacktop gets a major makeover soon!

Instead our volunteers headed to Second Chance for some indoor handiwork. When we arrived there was a large pile of plywood awaiting us. We processed the lumber by stripping nails from the wood with our hammers. We always enjoy spending time at Second Chance because we get to spend time working alongside the employees while hearing their stories.

We converted Second Chance’s warehouse into the site of our impromptu after party. We celebrated our efforts with some New Belgium brews. And again, we proudly partnered with Power Plant Live for this event!

Check out our friends below who made August’s event possible.
