February – Our 5th Birthday!

VU turned FIVE and we’ve had big plans to celebrate!

If you aren’t on the edge of your seat yet, keep reading.

We’re going back to where it all started, exactly five years, at the Kennedy Krieger Children’s Hospital. This event supported two amazing organizations: 1) The Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) which focuses on transforming the lives of children with disorders of the brain through groundbreaking research, innovative treatments, and life-changing education, and 2) Believe Big which helps families navigate the cancer journey. We were on a mission to bring all the great birthday feels to kids fighting the big fight. Our volunteer hours went towards helping the children and families of KKI and Believe Big forget about life’s challenges.

Volunteers helped with a variety of activities including running the carnival stations for the KKI children, creating blankets for the KKI children, creating inspirational and silly cards for patients at multiple children’s hospitals, and painting Believe Big mugs for the Believe Big families to enjoy. We’re delivered all the joy that can be found at a 5th birthday party!

Andddd since it’s our birthday, we wanted presents! Lots and lots of presents, but not for us. Our gift is celebrating this incredible milestone with the hundreds of volunteers that have made it all possible. In honor of our birthday, we asked our incredible volunteers to bring a gift for a child, five years old or younger, that was then donated to the children at KKI (ie. Disney princesses, superheroes, Play-Doh).
