As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread, more businesses, schools, organizations and other resources are closing and individuals are encouraged to avoid crowded places. The effects of this are hardest felt by some of Baltimore City's most vulnerable residents. The elderly and immunocompromised are facing difficult decisions on how they get their medications and food without being exposed to the virus. Children and families that relied on schools and nonprofit organizations to help feed their family are unsure of where their next meal will come from.

We are all worried what effect the coronavirus will have on our lives and those we care about. For people that have the ability to volunteer or to give financially, Baltimore needs you.

The need for help is immediate. The time to act is now.

On April 11th, VU hosted a virtual "event" to share current volunteer opportunities that can be done in person and from home. Download the slideshow presentation or the list of volunteer opportunities to find out more about volunteer opportunities happening now in Baltimore.

Did you know... about half of all nonprofits have less than one month of cash reserves? Right now, as events are being cancelled and programming reduced, nonprofits are facing especially hard times financially. If you are able, please also consider donating directly to your favorite nonprofit organization. Your donation right now may make all the difference in helping to keep their doors open now and when Baltimore is back on its feet.
