December 2015 – Sorting Toys with Salvation Army
For the second year in a row, our December event was one to write home about- the main event sold out in 30 minutes! We had 90 volunteers at the Salvation Army’s warehouse serving as holiday elves to sort donated toys for families who may not have otherwise received gifts for the holidays. WBAL was able to capture our toy sorting frenzy for the evening news and George Stavrakis photography was on hand for action shots and to take a picture for our holiday card. While some were busy sorting, others took a trip to Towson for a $1500 shopping spree to purchase toys and clothes for donation back to the Salvation Army. A lot for one morning, but that’s not all! We also sent volunteers to Art with a Heart for some holiday crafting to support Baltimore’s underserved children, youth and adults.
After the event, we headed over to Union Craft Brewing for holiday brews and some Asian-Latin fusion served up by the Green Bowl Food Truck. We had took part in brew tours, played corn hole, and did some cheesin’ in our homemade photo booth! Both our volunteering and #voluntbeering were done in our best holiday garb for our annual costume contest. We were thrilled that Baltimore Sun’s Scene and Heard stopped by to check out the festivities and snap some photos. The event was the perfect way to both give thanks to the Baltimore community and celebrate our accomplishments for 2015.
Thanks to all who made the day possible!
