March – Light City with Creative Alliance / Parade

For seven days Baltimore was bathed in light and immersed in ideas as part of the first large-scale, international light festival in the U.S. celebrating art, music, and innovation. We were honored to be an integral part of the kick-off celebration. On Saturday, March 12th, our 200 VU volunteers joined forces with Creative Alliance to build lanterns for the kick-off parade. We gathered at Archbishop Borders School to craft the lanterns and to hear from mayoral candidates, including David Warnock and a representative for Elizabeth Embry.  Afterwards, we walked to Saigon Today where we enjoyed the entire restaurant to ourselves with food and drink specials (fantastic pho)!

But that’s not all…On Monday, March 28th we came out in full force to kick-off Light City by marching a mile with our lanterns around the inner harbor. We donned our brightest attire, made complete by glowsticks and celebrated the light within our city. And you know it wouldn’t be a VU event without a post-event party-so we ended the night at Tir Na Nog.

Phew, that was a lot for one month! March was an exciting time for Baltimore and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of the energy. Check out the pics on our Facebook page, they won’t disappoint!
